We are looking for a motivated Java Backend Developer (upper junior to mid-level) who wants to learn, grow, and gradually take on more ownership while working on real production systems.

Mission of the role:

Develop and improve backend systems by delivering reliable, maintainable code, while continuously growing technical skills and ownership of solutions.

Outcomes:

• 3 - 6 months

Gain a solid understanding of the existing system architecture (monolith + microservices)
Understand key business processes and data flows
Deliver initial improvements and fixes in existing code (Java 8 / Java 21)
Write basic tests and participate in code reviews

• 6 - 12 months

Independently develop backend features (APIs, business logic, database changes)
Support investigation and resolution of production issues
Improve existing code without unnecessary rewrites
Contribute to code quality, testing, and CI stability

• Onwards

Take ownership of larger features and components
Propose technical improvements to the system
Collaborate closely with senior engineers and architects on complex problems
Deliver practical, reliable solutions with strong quality standards

Technical environment:

Java 21 and some legacy Java 8
Monolith and microservices

Evidence of capability:

Understanding of backend development fundamentals (OOP, REST, basic concurrency concepts)
SQL knowledge (PostgreSQL or similar relational databases)
Experience with Liquibase or other database migration tools
Experience writing tests using JUnit
Basic understanding of system architecture (monolith vs microservices)
Ability to work in an existing production system and deliver safe, incremental improvements

Offered salary for this position is 3000 EUR gross.
